Carmen (16mm, 2005)

Mike received a financial award from the Jack Cardiff Fund for Cinematography for this UK/Italian co-production. A reflection on homecoming and sexual identity in Southern Italy, starring Cristina Donadio.

It was shot over six days in the small town of Polla and its surrounding ‘Vallo di Diano’, which rests in the Campania region, around 80km in land from Salerno.

The challenging film, dealing with gender issues and rural conservatism, was the focus of much attention in the region.
