‘SICK’ (35mm, 2007)

Mike wrote and Directed this 35mm short which was supported by The London Borough of Wandsworth, Film London, The UK Film Council through Screen South, financed by an NHS Charity, and endorsed by Samaritans.

Screened at Mental Health events from Bosnia to Nova Scotia, and used for education across the UK and Europe, the film was represented by The British High Commission when receiving Malta’s prestigious Golden Knight. After more than 70 festival selections and 20 International awards, it is released on DVD through British Film Institute’s Shop, and as part of the Film 4 Forgotten Classics Collection.

A visualisation of people at extremes of emotional endurance, the film examines shards of the fractured lives of a father and daughter, each fighting in their own way to make sense of the abject isolation of grief. Photo credit: Dana Wilson
